“ Im not vegan at all, but that doesnt mean I wont eat vegan food. This place was welcoming as soon as I walked in. My server, Michelle, was super friendly, courteous, and a sweetheart. Another server also helped me at times but I didnt get their name, but they had a beanie on. They were also friendly and courteous. I ordered the combo, pictured above. I dont care for onigiri whether here or anywhere else. The quality was great, its just not my taste buds. Why order it? I thought maybe it would be different this time, but this proved trying it again that Im just not an onigiri girl. I still ate both of them. The korokke croquettes however were tasty! Overall a great combo with a little bit of everything to satisfy. I also ordered the NY styled cheesecake with orange marmalade looks like a eggyolk, huh?. Amateur me didnt check my settings cos I wanted to devour it so I didnt check until after Id eaten that the picture came out blurry. Not as soft as the usual cheesecake, but still a nice treat to end the meal. Lastly, with my meal, I ordered the ginger turmeric tonic. I suggest getting it without ice like I did since the glass is tall but goes quickly, plus its not very sweet totally fine with me so nice wouldve taken up more space. Totally recommend this place. I loved the warmth of the employees, the quality of the food, and the cozy ambience. ”
“ During a recent trip to Portland, this was the best vegan meal that I had. All dishes were made with exceptional care and attention to detail you can taste the intentional craftsmanship across the whole menu. I cant speak highly enough of the service and atmosphere too. Awesome! ”
“ An absolutely extraordinary meal! Every single flavor was perfect. Customers order their own lunch using a QR code, but the staff is available to answer questions. Service with his friend day and efficient. I really love the creativity and inventive use of ingredients such a stinging nettles. Cant wait to return and see what you do next! ”
“ Sometimes you just find that place and all other options fade away. Exceptional and has set a new standard for all my dining experiences. I hope other business can learn a thing or two from you Youve already taught me so much. Thank you for the rare and lovely creations that stand out like no other. The freshness, care, and quality is truly exceptional. ”
“ Laid back plantbased Japanese restaurant serving tasty and highquality authentic Japanese cuisine, much of which is difficult to find in most American Japanese restaurants and even rarer to find vegan versions of. Also serves great cocktails, kombuchas, teas and other drinks. For food we ordered the tempura udon which was excellent and well flavored, a curry plate which was tasty, and a okonomiyaki, which we had never had before. Not sure if wed order the okonomiyaki again, it had an interesting and very strong kimchilike flavor, but I enjoyed it. Staff was helpful. Food was delicious. Vibe is nice and informal. ”
“ My partner and I tried this all vegan Japanese restaurant after looking at the top rated vegan restaurants in Portland. We went in without a reservation and were seated right away. The menu is easy to access as it is a QR code and you place your order through an online ordering system. We started off with a cocktail, he got the sake, which comes with a cup that you can take home with you and is so cute, and I got the gin ginger cocktail, both were delicious. We then each got an order of the carriage chicken and I got a side salad to start, that was probably one of our favorite parts of the meal... Very good tofu!!! I also ordered a sesame onigiri with brown rice, which was very good as well. From there, our main entrees came out, and I ordered the vegetable tempura curry udon, which taste like someone had just made everything from scratch in their kitchen, truly, it felt like it was homemade by someones grandmother! My partner got the chicken Katsu curry combo platter, and that was delicious as well. Overall, this has been one of the best dining out experiences we both have had in a very long time and especially on this trip to Portland. We were blown away by the food, the service the atmosphere and for the quality of everything the prices were decent. Thank you very much Obon Shokudo, we will definitely be back next time!!! ”
“ Every item on the combo plate was really good. They did a great job with umami flavors in the onigiri. Service was fast. Definitely recommend. ”
“ Delicious curry udon and I love that the staff are so kind and that they mask here! I also really appreciate the payment method where we each order the food on our phones that way splitting the check correctly is easy!, but that if that is an access problem in any way, they can take your order for you! This place is how all restaurants should run! And delicious vegan Japanese food?! Say lessss! ”
